Anika Poitier, daughter of the late Sidney Poitier, penned a touching message, honoring her father who died on Jan. 6.

The Hollywood Reporter published Anika’s essay detailing the love she had for her father.

“As we begin to navigate this uncharted territory of life without my father, I realize that there is an infinite list of things I will miss. The memories that hold the most weight in my heart are not the larger iconic moments but rather the smaller private ones,” she said.

"I will miss hugging him in his cashmere sweaters and listening to him ponder the cosmos. I will miss his laughter, his smile and his silly sense of humor," she added.

Anika says she see's her dad in her "beautiful sisters"

Anika, one of Poitier’s six daughters, also acknowledged her sisters and their individual relationships with the iconic actor.

“I see him in my beautiful sisters. In Beverly, I see his conviction,” she said. “In Pam, I see his strength; in Sherri, I see his delightful sense of humor; in Gina, I see his compassion, and in Sydney, his artistry. I hear him in my son’s laughter, and I see him in my daughter’s passion for social justice.”

Poitier’s daughters Sherri, Beverly, Pamela and Gina are from his first marriage to Juanita Hardy, People reports. Gina died in 2018 at age 57.

Anika and Sydney Tamiia are from Poitier's second marriage to Joanna Shimkus in 1976.

The actor was 94 at the time of his death and was considered one of Hollywood’s leading Black men in film, Shadow and Act reports.

He had a range of films debuting in theaters, including Lilies of the Field and A Raisin in the Sun. He was also the first Black actor to win an Oscar.
