We’ve known this to be true for some time now, but after this win, it’s official, Simone Biles is the greatest gymnast in the world. She took home the gold medal in the women’s individual all-around competition Thursday afternoon.
She ended up with a score 62.198, winning by 2.1 points, which is greater than the margin of victories from the 1980 to the 2012 Olympics combined! Overall, it’s the biggest margin of victory since the World Championships in 2006.

She follows in the foot steps for four straight Team USA gold all-around wins, following Carly Patterson (2004), Nastia Liukin (2008), and of course, Gabby Douglas (2012).
To put it in short, she came, she conquered and she absolutely SLAYED.

Her Final Five team member, Aly Raisman won the silver after being denied medal placement in the all-around in 2012 (kind of similar to what happened to Gabby Douglas this year). This was the first time since 2008 that USA took home the top two medals.

Biles, Raisman, Douglas and their teammates Laurie Hernandez and Madison Kocian still have a few more tasks left. They still have their competitions in the individual events as they are set to rack up more gold!
