If you’re like most people in America, you’ve probably been trying to find any and all things pumpkin. From lattes to cookies, pumpkin-flavored goodies have a hold on our American hearts that we can’t break free from. Even if you’re over the pumpkin-spice latte trend, this recipe is still for you!

There’s no need to feel guilty about this recipe, unlike the PSL. Pumpkins are rich in beta-carotene, which can reduce the risk of developing certain types of cancer, delay aging and body degeneration, and offer protection against asthma and heart disease. Pumpkins are also really great for the heart. The potassium, vitamin C and fiber content found in pumpkins support heart health and can help with lowering blood pressure.

Although these perks probably won’t be found in your coffee shop latte, a homemade pumpkin smoothie is a great way to get those health benefits while also indulging in your autumn favorite. Check out the recipe below, and let us know what you think!

  • 1 cup pumpkin purée
  • 1 large frozen banana
  • 1 cup unsweetened soymilk or coconut milk beverage
  • 1/2 cup of vanilla Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 4 ice cubes

Put this in your blender/bullet and you’re good to go!
