Update (August 25, 2021): The divorce proceedings between Dell and Sonya Curry, parents of Stephen, Seth and Sydel Curry, are quickly turning as both are accusing the other of cheating, the New York Post reports.

Dell is accusing Sonya of having an extramarital affair for years with Steven Johnson, a former Virginia Tech athlete in the mid-80s and 6th-round pick in the 1988 NFL Draft, while the couple was together and before they officially separated, according to court documents obtained by TMZ. Dell is also accusing Sonya of living with Johnson in Tennessee.

Johnson, who graduated from Virginia Tech in 1988, two years after Dell, is currently the president of Johnson Commercial Development, one of the largest commercial developers in the southeastern region of the United States. Also, he’s one of Virginia Tech’s biggest donors and one of the practice football fields is named after him, the Herald Courier reports.

Responding to the accusations, Sonya said she lives alone because Dell is not welcomed at her residence. Sonya admitted that she’s currently in a relationship but claims that she began dating after the couple legally separated in March of 2020. Also, she accused Dell of infidelity throughout their marriage of over 30 years.

Sonya officially filed for divorce papers on June 14.

"We are so thankful for all the many blessings and successes!”

“We stay committed to and supportive of our children and grandchildren and will remain on connected paths. We ask that our privacy be respected and prayer for our family as we move forward,” the statement continued.

The Currys, who also share a daughter, Sydel, met at Virginia Tech and married in 1988.

Sonya went on to found the Christian Montessori School of Lake Norman in North Carolina, which all three of their children attended.

The couple were mainstays at NBA games, supporting their sons by wearing the jersey of each one when they played each other.
