President Donald Trump wasn't able to win over the South Carolina women's basketball team.

After winning the coveted national title, coach Dawn Staley's lady Gamecocks have turned down an invite to the White House's celebration of collegiate champions. According to the Bleacher Report, Trump invited several collegiate teams who won titles to the White House; Staley declined the invite.

"We did hear from the White House about attending tomorrow's event, but we will not be able to attend," Staley told CNN's Jill Martin. "As I've been saying since our practices for this season started, all of our focus is on the season ahead. The only invitation we are thinking about is to the 2018 NCAA tournament."

South Carolina won its first national championship last April after beating Mississippi State in the title game. In May, Staley wondered why her team hadn't been invited to the White House, when other teams had been, the Associated Press reports.

“We haven’t gotten an invitation yet and that in itself speaks volumes,” Staley said. “We won before those other teams won their championships. I don’t know what else has to happen.”

At the time, although some teams said they were unsure if they would visit the White House due to President Donald Trump's policies, Staley said her team would go if invited because “it’s what national champions do.”

However, after what Staley called "some things" occurred "over the last few months," Staley wasn't so sure.

And now, after receiving a last-minute invitation, the Gamecocks will not, in the end, go the Washington. Instead, Staley and her team will focus on becoming repeat champions, keeping up their current three game winning streak.
