The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a Hollywood film dynasty on a constant incline.

Captain America: Civil War is still roaring through the box office, grossing a reported $673.1 million worldwide so far, with a guarantee that this number will only go up as the month continues. It’s clear that this movie is the first and possibly the biggest of the summer blockbusters to come in 2016.

But like any great dynasty should, Marvel keeps its eyes on both the present and the future. Staying steps ahead of every release, meticulously planning the next films to come, and continuing the unbreakable link of box office wins it’s been building for more than a few years now is clearly the agenda they have in mind. (Doctor Strange may be the first link in the chain to miss it’s mark.)

Civil War opens the chapter to the Marvel Cinematic Unvierse’s Phase 3, which will definitely include Doctor Strange, a Guardians of the Galaxy sequel, Peter Parker’s fresh new start on the winning team in Spider-Man: Homecoming, another Thor film, the highly anticipated Black Panther, a two part Avengers: Infinity War, and Carol Danvers (which should probably be Monica Rambeau) the Captain Marvel. There was talk of an Inhumans movie coming as well, but the announcement of Disney’s first crack at Indiana Jones threw it into limbo for the time being. These films’ productions and release will span across 2016 all the way to 2019.

That’s a lot of movies.

There’s a feeling I get, after seeing this Captain America twice and gauging the public reaction, that Marvel has found a very sweet spot in the superhero genre and, like anyone in their right mind would do, they’re taking advantage of the mojo as much as they can. When the star player is on fire, you give them the ball and let them shoot until they can’t make the magic happen anymore. In fact, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has been very vocal that the team has planned out the MCU’s agenda until the year 2028 (and by now, who know’s how far ahead in planning they actually are).

After Phase 3 many of the characters that we’ll see solo offerings from are unknown. So in the spirit of Marvel’s very detailed vision board for the life of it’s film empire, I did some masterminding of my own and picked a few characters that I think deserve a coveted spot on the solo screen starting line-up after the Phase 3 championship ring is won and it’s written in the history books.

Blade is a character that’s extremely overdue for a come back on the silver screen.

Marvel has even had previous conversations with Wesley Snipes about the possibilities of giving the character his own allow-me-to-reintroduce-myself moments in the future. We can only hope that in some shape or form, hopefully of the solo film variety, Blade gets to taste some of that MCU magic and we can see him doing work in the theater one summer. There’s more than enough source material already in place to justify a Blade movie trilogy, as well as how he could fit into a larger Marvel Avengers picture. In two separate Mighty Avengers series Blade was on the team, most recently in disguise going by the name Ronin.

Kamala Khan as Ms. Marvel is much more than the comic book company’s first Pakastani American, Muslim character to lead a comic book, she’s also a force of nature.

This character, whose book is currently written by G Willow Wilson also has some very plausible ties to the direction that the MCU universe is headed. Khan discovers that she has Inhuman cells which give her powers. She decides to take a name similar to the superhero that she most admires, Captain Marvel. This is a perfect way to introduce the character during the Phase 3 Captain Marvel movie in coming in 2019. A big part of Ms. Marvel’s origin story is built around the influence seeing Danvers in the suit, protecting people from alien evil. One of the criticisms that is very easy to make against the MCU, as it is now, is the lack of women of color in any roles, least of all the leads. Giving Kamala Khan a chance to have her story told not only starts them out in the right direction, but also sets up a way to get some needed new blood into the mix.

Anything Spider-Man can do, Storm can do better – including the MCU.

If Sony and Marvel can work together to bring us Spider-Man, hopefully that could inspire 20th Century Fox to follow suit and release Ororo from her time being spent as a glorified side kick/supporting character in every X-Men movies. Most, if not all, X-Men films, to date, portray Storm as a non-dimensional character that just exists as a member in the current movies. But with an MCU solo treatment, Storm, and the richness of her story, could be explored in a way that other studios have not done yet. In the comics, Orono Munroe becomes the leader of the X-Men in the absence of Cyclops, and she continues to lead even when he decides to return. Also, the romantic relationship between King T’challa and Storm would be black love goals that we can only aspire to in our wildest dreams.
