Tony Markee Mosley was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of 20-year-old DeCora Alexander.

Mosley, 31, was charged with first-degree murder after he was arrested in Memphis, Tennessee, on Sunday, according to The Jackson Sun. Alexander was found dead in Mosley’s home on May 11. He also had several stab wounds and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He was arrested on Sunday on an outstanding warrant for probation violation.

Alexander had an active protective order against Mosley at the time of her death. She received it after she claimed Mosley punched her in the head and chest while they sat in a car.  In 2018, she reported Mosley at least three times for sexual and physical abuse. In one report, the officer wrote, “Alexander is also scared of Mosley and what he might do to her,” according to WREG.

He violated the protective order a month after it started. Alexander showed the police several messages she received from Mosley demanding she end the protective order in exchange for $1000. He claimed he would give her $3000 after the order was dropped. Alexander changed her number to break contact.

The night of the murder, a friend drove Alexander to Mosley’s house but it’s unclear why she was there, reports WPSD. The friend later posted a Facebook status asking about Alexander’s whereabouts.

Terika Cole, her cousin, believes the death was senseless.

“Nobody deserves to be viciously, viciously attacked and brutalized as she was,” said Cole.

“She never got a chance to be a grandmother, you know? She was robbed, she was robbed from opportunities, he took life from her. God is the one that gives and takes lives but it was not her time for live to be taken away from her. He robbed her, he robbed her of her family.”

Mosley is currently in jail awaiting arraignment.
