Houston rapper Trae Tha Truth, who has dedicated himself to philanthropy and social justice efforts for many years, has received Joe Biden’s Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award. As part of his long track record of giving back, Trae Tha Truth recently opened an ice cream store in Houston that supports adults with special needs.

"This is special because we will employ special needs young adults and give them a opportunity to work and experience and have a chance to be supported!! We hope to change the way the world looks at everyone," the business owner said in July, as Blavity previously reported.

In the same month, Trae teamed up with Megan Thee Stallion to give a shopping spree to a student who was selling water outside of a gas station to raise money for school clothes. To honor the activist, Houston proclaimed July 22nd as “Trae Day.”

The artist celebrates the annual event by finding ways to give back to his community. In 2017, the rapper celebrated by organizing a massive block party for his community. Simone Biles, Nick Cannon and Drake were among those invited to the party, as Blavity previously reported. He also awarded 75 scholarships to students from the community on the same day.

The 41-year-old recently teamed up with UFC to raise $23,500 for his Houston nonprofit, Angel By Nature, an organization aiming to uplift individuals affected by hardship and impoverishment.

“Having a brand such as UFC recognize what we’re doing for disadvantaged children and those in need, then step up and lend their support to the local Houston community is really a true blessing,” Trae said in a statement.

“The funds raised from our campaigns will go towards our annual event, Trae Day, and will provide kids with much needed supplies. We thank UFC for all of their support and we look forward to doing more things down the road.”

In August, the “Here I Go” rapper joined a group of volunteers and headed to Louisiana to help residents devastated by Hurricane Ida, KHOU11 reports.
