As the news of the tragic mass shooting at a Texas elementary school made its way on social media, many hip-hop artists reacted to the story on Twitter.

Missy Elliot, Chuck D, Offset and more, sent their condolences to the families and expressed their concerns for the future.

Rapper Missy Elliot took to Twitter on Tuesday to share her love with the world, praying for those struggling mentally, financially, and physically.

“We living in some TRYING TIMES… It’s Heavy…I am praying for everyone that is struggling MENTALLY/FINANCIALLY/PHYSICALLY that some PEACE be RESTORED,” Missy Elliot said. “So many in the world is dealing with pain & I don’t have the answers but I send you LOVE virtually.”

Houston rapper Trae Tha Truth who is well known for his generosity, offered to pay for some of the victims’ funeral expenses.

“This Aint Right… Lets Step Up To Assist Them,” Trae captioned his Instagram post.

Trae Tha Truth also revealed that he turned down an invitation to the White House in order to assist victims of the recent mass shootings in Uvalde, Texas and Buffalo, New York.

“I was invited to the White House today to meet with the president with the families of those who have been wrongfully murdered by police,” Trae Tha Truth wrote. “But the people of Buffalo, N.Y. are really in need as well as the families of the children murdered in Uvalde. So I will have to pass. I will be in the field with the people in need.”

Atlanta rappers Offset and 21 Savage also sent their prayers to the families and shared their disbelief for children not being safe in schools.

“I really can’t believe kids really have to worry about being safe at school,” 21 Savage said. “that sh*t is crazy to me very crazy !!!”

“Prayers for the people in Texas man those are kids that were killed smh,” Offset tweeted. “this world needs God smh”

Public Enemy’s Chuck D tweeted that he had just heard the news after taking a day away from social media, saying that the world is watching the United States as a “gun laden asylum.”

“I’m just getting to todays news after a day of shutting off everything and this is fkn crazy,” Chuck D said. “Here’s a land looked upon from the rest of the modern world as a gun laden asylum right now. A war in itself.”

The official account of his group, Public Enemy, also reacted to the shooting, sharing a video of the quote, “we all bleed the same color,” spray-painted on a brick wall. The video features their song ‘Caught, Can I get a witness?’ from their It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back album.

Several other celebrities have reacted to the news on Twitter, including rapper Kid Cudi, music producer Metro Boomin, NBA legend LeBron James, and musician/documentary director Questlove.

“My heart hurts for the families dealin w yesterdays tragedy,” Kid Cudi said. “The world can be a dark place and it really fucks me up sometimes. Sad.”

“No parent should ever have to bury their child,” Metro Boomin said. “Praying”

“There simply has to be change! HAS TO BE!!,” Lebron said. “Praying to the heavens above to all with kids these days in schools.”

The tweets follow the latest mass shooting in which an alleged shooter, Salvador Ramos, entered an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, and killed 19 children and two adults.

Ramos, 18, allegedly shot his grandmother, who survived, before heading to the Robb Elementary School around 11:30 a.m. Central time and opening fire.

Ramos was killed by responding officers.
