Fox News host Tucker Carlson invited Candace Owens on his show to discuss rapper Cardi B’s guest star appearance on Nickelodeon’s animated television series Baby Shark’s Big Show, according to the Daily Beast.
“So you’re a fuddy-duddy if you note that American culture is becoming, like, not really culture anymore,” Carlson said at the beginning of his segment, the Daily Beast reports. “It’s like a lot of growling and sexless talking about sex. And if you think it’s an overstatement, check out this song from someone calling herself Cardi B.”
The Fox News host then proceeded to play the 2-year-old music video for Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s song “WAP.”
“So you watch something like that and probably your first thought was, ‘Man, I want my kids, my little kids, to get a lot more of Cardi B. Like how can they experience Cardi B and the Cardi B lifestyle, because obviously that’s not bad for them or anything. They’re not going to wind up in rehab or as hookers,'” he added.
Carlson then tapped Owens to chime in with her perspective, and the conservative pundit decided to “defend” the rapper.
“It is not Cardi B’s fault that she gets a phone call from Nickelodeon executives asking her to do this,” she said, the Daily Beast reports. “It’s not Cardi B’s fault that she gets a phone call from then-presidential candidate Joe Biden asking her to come speak about issues in America.”
Owens, however, insulted the rapper by adding that Cardi B “doesn’t possess the intelligence to think through these things and wonder, ‘Why are these executives and these presidential administrations calling me and asking me to get involved?’ Her thoughts are probably much more short-circuited.”
This is the second discussion about Cardi B that Carlson has entertained on his show with Owens. His obsession with the Washington Heights rapper dates back to when the video was released for the song in question.
At the time, books written by Dr. Seuss were being pulled from the shelves in a Virginia school district, according to WGN 9. However, Carlson called the move hypocritical considering the performance of Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion at the Grammys, which he described as “intentionally trying to degrade our culture and hurt our children,” Insider reports.
The television host also questioned why President Joe Biden would conduct an interview with the rapper, who Carlson alleges is trying to hurt children and decay the American culture.
“That’s garbage. It’s aimed at young American girls. … People are getting rich pushing that crap on the country and they should be ashamed of themselves,” Carlson said, according to Insider.
“Go online right now and look up the lyrics to this song, and then ask yourself, if you’re Joe Biden, would you suck up to the person who sang it? And ask yourself, what is this doing to our kids? The people pushing it clearly are trying to hurt your children, why is no one pushing back?” he added.
