Backstage at a fashion show usually isn't just about getting dressed; it also serves as a pep rally, as models get hype to hit the runway.
It's common that the entire room is filled with people dancing and singing to loosen up the anxiety over the big show. But, when people get too loose, the smartphone camera is right there to capture it all.
According to Teen Vogue, a video has surfaced on Twitter featuring several models singing along to Cardi B's hit single, "Bodak Yellow."
Now the song is fun, and checks fashion nice with its "bloody shoes" double entendre, but it also contains a racial slur that some people ought to not allow to pass their lips.
And yet, video captured backstage seems to show the n-word being dropped; too, although this year's Victoria's Secret show featured lots of black models, it doesn't look like the word is being said by any of them.
Instead, it would appear that the non-POC models are using the word.

Twitter was quick to condemn the models. Writer Mikelle Street was one of many who noticed the visible absence of black faces in the room, noting, "That n-word was too loud and clear for there only to be one black girl in this room."
Nah.

Of course, Street's sentiment was shared by those of Black Twitter who peeped the video, with some straight up @-ing Victoria's Secret's Twitter account calling for punishable action.

“Damn, these girls are gassin’ to Cardi in China, go ladies!”
(*Victoria’s Secret Angels say the n-word*).
“Now wait a goddamn minute….”

Women are talking about boycotting Victoria secret models for singing the n-word in a video. It's really a dilemma for me cause those velvet bras just came out….and a bitch kinda wanted one ????

So y’all just gonna be okay to say the N-word but not even worry about the slave trade going on RIGHT NOW, IN 2017 IN LIBYA. Yes I’m talking to you Victoria Secret Models and any other person saying that word like it’s okay. I don’t care if it’s a song lyric, censor yourself.

I love that the same ones defending the video of Victoria's Secret models saying the N-word in Bodak Yellow wouldn't say the word themselves around Black Ppl….but we should relax cause it's in a song— ???? ArtsyBamaGirl (@BamaIntrovert) November 29, 2017
Welp @VictoriasSecret plz fire all of them for saying the n-word all carefree. #thanks https://t.co/SjJ7r63ED1— Jasmyn Lawson (@JasmynBeKnowing) November 29, 2017
At the time of this posting, neither the models nor Victoria's Secret have released a comment, but we'll certainly keep our eyes peeled for apologies.
