Controversy has unfolded at Arizona State University after two white students said they were harassed for occupying a multicultural space on campus while sporting right-wing propaganda. One had a "police matter" sticker on their laptop and the other wore a shirt reading "Did Not Vote For Biden," and they were asked to leave.

The students recording can be heard going back-and-forth with the pair of young men while trying to explain why that particular ideology is not welcome at the multicultural space.

As the video begins, the two white male students claim that they are being kicked out of the center. The two women protecting the space then said they are not kicking anybody out. They also proceeded to say the two men were making people feel uncomfortable because of the sticker.

“You’re making this space uncomfortable,” one of the students said.

After one of the men said he is also feeling uncomfortable because of the confrontation, the students explained the purpose of the multicultural center.

“But you’re white! Do you understand what a multicultural space is? It means you’re not being centered,” they said.

As the white students tried to explain that they also belong in the multicultural space, the argument centered on whether or not white is a culture.

“No! White is not a culture!” one student said. “This white man thinks he can take up our space and this is why we need a multicultural space because they think they can get away with this s**t.”

The students recording continued to explain that white students have the option to go anywhere else on campus and feel accepted, and that the multicultural space was specifically created for marginalized people.

“This is the only space that you’re not centered and you’re still trying to center yourself, which is peak white cis male bulls**t,” one of the students said.

The pro-police proponent appeared confused as the two explained their view of the "Police Lives Matter" sticker.

"You can choose to be a cop, you can choose to kill people with a badge and you're protecting that s**t, which means that you're racist," the students recording said. "This offends me automatically because these people kill people like me and like us, so you're promoting our murderers."

The argument continued after another person jumped in to help the white students and defend the controversial slogan.

"Do you understand that 'Police Lives Matter' was in response to 'Black Lives Matter?' one of the Black students said as the third person joined the argument.

In a longer version of the video posted to Reddit, the students explain what it took to build the multicultural space.

"We worked for five years for ASU to build a cultural space. You have no idea about the labor that was created to create this space," the students said.

The two students almost broke out in laughter after one of the white men claimed that America is "one of the most un-racist countries."

"This is what we mean about 'who are you centering?'" one of the students said after hearing the comment.

As the white students packed their bags and headed to the exit, one of them left one last comment, saying diversity is about including white people.

A spokesman for Arizona State University issued a statement, saying the Dean of Students Office is “aware of the disagreement between a handful of students that was captured in a video circulated on social media.”

“The Dean of Students Office will be discussing it with all involved,” the spokesperson stated. “ASU is a community of more than 100,000 people from all 50 states and more than 150 countries. Differences of opinion are part of the university experience. The university expects respectful dialogue between students in all engagements.”
