A woman in Paynesville, Liberia died Thursday from Ebola, which was thought to be eradicated from the country. In January, the country was declared Ebola-free after passing 42 days of no new cases, twice the 21-day incubation period. A senior health ministry official says the woman, 30s, was brought to Redemption Hospital where she died from the virus. This comes weeks after a new case was announced in Guinea, and Sierra Leone passed their incubation period.

Liberia had closed their northern border with Guinea following the March 17th announcement of a new transmission, so it’s unknown whether this death, which was on the southern coast, was a result of possible contact.

The health ministry says the government will release a statement on the matter, and the World Health Organization maintains that these flare-ups aren’t indicative of international risk.
