An 11-year-old boy in Pearland, Texas, is getting a head start on his future by launching a candle company to pay for college. Hart Wilson has been focused on his dream since he visited Howard University at the age of six, according to Because Of Them We Can.
The ambitious young man started working on his plan last year when he officially became the owner of Candles From The Hart, which sells an assortment of scents.
“I got on the internet and saw that people were making different things to sell to earn money, and I settled on candles. My parents and I watched YouTube videos and started experimenting with making candles, and we figured it all out, and that’s when it all started,” Hart told Because Of Them We Can.
Shortly after he started selling his products on the online platform, Etsy, Wilson received support from a variety of sources. The New Orleans Pelicans were among the first customers who ordered a batch. Actress Keena Ferguson from Tyler Perry’s Sistas and Queen Sugar actress Tracey Bonner also bought the items.
The company's variety of fragrance features Cashmere Plum, which is honoring Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. Wilson also sells other scents such as Tranquil Sea, Guava Fresca, Grapefruit and Mint, as well as Asian Pear and Basil. In addition, Candles From The Hart offers wax melts and scents for cars.
The young entrepreneur is now getting requests to sell his candles in stores. That includes an offer from restaurant owner Gabriel Devarssy in Chicago, as well as shops in Houston and Pearland, Texas. The plan is to expand to even more stores, including upstate New York as the next target.
Young achiever Hart Wilson age 10, has his own candle company Candles from the Hart Which he started because he wants to make enough money to pay for his and his little sister Paige’s tuition to Howard University. He wants to be an engineer.

While he looks to raise funds for the D.C.-based HBCU, Wilson plans to start even more businesses. Still, his priority is to keep up his grades in school. The determined Texas boy said he hopes to see other young entrepreneurs having the same type of success in business.
“The advice I would give other young people trying to pursue business is simple… DO IT! You can do anything you want. Don’t let anyone tell you no. Whatever you like doing, figure out a way to get paid from it and be successful,” he said.
The young business owner has been receiving rave reviews from customers.
"These candles are amazing. They are true to the name of their scents and they make your whole home smell amazing," one customer wrote. "I am a loyal customer and I stay stocked up on these candles. I even ordered some as gifts. Customer service is also amazing. Quick delivery times."
Another person also praised the product and the service.
"These are the BEST candles! They smell wonderful!!" the customer said. "Also ordering and shipping was easy and very quick. I'll definitely be purchasing more."
