Yo! Listen up! I’ll make this short and sweet!

Nikyatu Jusu (you know her, right?) is fundraising for her feature film debut, a thriller she compares to contemporary classics like City Of God and Amores Perros, titled Free The Town, set in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Simple premise: the lives of 3 strangers collide in the midst of witch-hunting “season” in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Amongst its early accolades, the script was one of 10 projects selected for Film Independent’s 11th annual Fast Track program at the Los Angeles Film Festival, this year, and was also picked for the 4th edition of the Durban FilmMart, in July.

Nikyatu needs to raise $15,000 in 30 days to help launch production on the film: a nearly 1-month trip to Sierra Leone, where casting and scouting will take place, necessary equipment and more.

Thus far, she’s raised just about 30% of the fundraising campaign’s goal, with 3 days left, which is where you come in, of course. One good thing about Indiegogo is that campaigners get to keep whatever they raise (minus Indiegogo’s fee of course), unlike Kickstarter, which requires that you raise the full amount set when you created your campaign, or you get nothing. So don’t be deterred by the fact that Nikyatu’s campaign has raised just 30% of its goal, with only 3 days left. Give what you can, if you feel inclined, because she’ll get whatever is in the pot at the time the campaign ends in 72 hours.

But I’ll stop talking now.

Watch her video pitch below, and visit the project’s Indiegogo page HERE to learn even more (you’ll find 2 of her previous short films there as well, for your viewing pleasure), and make a contribution:
