nullThe 7th Annual Kenyan Film Festival or KIFF is kicking off today!

The Festival which started as a small local festival has grown to be an International festival. 

"The mission of the festival is to challenge local filmmakers to contribute products which are indeed truly African and can transverse international borders. Our objective is to promote a cinema culture in the Eastern Africa region by showing locally made films alongside international ones."

The Festival theme this year 'World Classics' aims to capitolize on the idea of the East meeting the West and will feature Narrative Features, Documentaries, Animation, and Shorts from all over the world. 

The festival will include a red carpet opening night ceremony at the National Museums of Kenya of The Captain of Nakara by native son Bob Nyanja

Expect international and local film premieres in addition to the regular film screenings.  In addition to screenings, learning opportunities for professional ands students will be available through: Capacity building workshops and student forums. 

Reaching out to the community the festivall will have special screenings at social halls and outdoor open grounds targeting the urban informal settlement areas. 

The closing ceremony and awards will also be held at the National Museum of Kenya.

The Kenyan Film Festival runs from October 24th-November 3rd.
