Our readers in the Chicago area should be interested to know that the 9th annual Chicago African Diaspora International Film Festival will take pace at Facets Multimedia in Chicago, starting this Friday, June 17 and continuing through Thursday, June 23rd.
Among the dozen or so films that will be screened at the festival are the Canadian film Black Hands – Trial of an Arsonist Slave, a new documentary about Marie-Josephe Angelique who was accused of burning Montreal in 1734.
Other films include the Moroccan film Le Temps des Camarades (Time of Comrades) about a young woman whose life is changed by her experiences on campus, and the debates she witnessed between Islam and Socialism; also the film Africa United (pictured above).
