Tonight at BAMcinematek is the New York premiere of GRAMMY award winning producer, DJ, Duke University professor, father, son and digital mixing pioneer 9th Wonder’s documentary THE WONDER YEAR. Screenings at 4:30pm, 6:50pm, and 9:30pm will be followed by Q&As with the director Kenneth Price and 9th Wonder himself.
As part of ActNow: New Voices in Black Cinema, an independent feature film series that focuses on films about and/or starring people of the African diaspora that both Tambay and I curate, Price’s film (full interview of him posted HERE) follows a year in the life of one of hip-hop’s most sought after producers and beat makers.
Of all our submissions and films we went after, ActNow chose to focus on this documentary because of its focus on elevating oneself through education, maintaining close ties to the community, and quite frankly because the man makes dope and inspirational music that has timeless yet modern qualities..
Tickets truly are selling quickly so buy them HERE right now and come out and enjoy a night of great cinema and music and people. Afterparty to follow.
