As 20-year old Dylan Jarrell backed out of his driveway with hundreds of rounds of ammunition and a plan of attack on two school districts last Thursday, police officers stopped him after being tipped off by a local mom, Jezebel reports.
New Jersey mom Koeberle Bull woke to a Facebook message from a stranger who detailed hateful acts he hoped would be done to her Black children.
“[He was] basically repeating himself about hoping my children would die and be hung because they’re Black,” Bull told WKYT. “It was definitely racially motivated, ‘you and your monkey children’ and using the N-word a lot.”
Shaken by the message, Bull made a 911 call to alert police of the man’s intentions, and with the help of friends, she was able to find his address.
According to Jezebel, police arrived in the nick of time. They caught Jarrell as he was leaving with the necessary supplies to carry out his detailed crimes against Anderson County Schools and Shelby County Public Schools.
Though Jarrell was arrested, Anderson County Schools chose to cancel classes the next day as a precaution.
“I would hope that someone would, in the same situation, just do the same thing. Because, obviously, you never know,” Bull told WKYT. “It could be an idle threat, or it could be the next mass shooter. It’s our future. These kids are our future, my kids, the kids of Lawrenceburg and Anderson County, and we have to give them a fighting shot.”
