“I’m the writer I am today because of the teachers I’ve had who uplifted me. Now, on @MasterClass, I’m so excited to pay what I’ve learned forward and be a resource for anyone who is interested in harnessing the power of poetry,” Gorman wrote beneath an Instagram upload announcing the news.
“You don’t need formal training to write; all you need is curiosity and courage. I hope this class can help you to find your own voice and to become a powerful force of language and change,” she continued.

Gorman also spoke on her MasterClass course in a statement to Girls United.
“Something that keeps me grounded in all that kind of hailstorm of it all is remembering what it felt like to write at seven, eight years old, that understanding that the reason I do what I do isn’t for fame, attention, it’s to make a difference,” she said.
“If I can remind myself about that purpose every single time I pick up the pen, then the heat and intensity of the spotlight is really rendered insignificant because it’s more so me wanting to use that spotlight on issues that matter,” Gorman added.
