Ashanti is back in the news, thanks to her former label boss, Irv Gotti.

In a recent infamous interview on the Drink Champs podcast, Irv Gotti recently spilled the beans on what he alleged was a deep and personal relationship between himself and the “What’s Luv?” singer.

He alleged that her 2002 hit “Happy” was written by him after the two finished having sex together.

“We just finished sleeping together, or whatever, I’m taking a shower. I’m in the shower, you know, a n***a be creative after [sex]. … I think of the whole track in the shower,” he said in a clip of the interview.

Gotti continued his rant, saying that he only recently got over his affair with the singer and that he was “heartbroken” when he learned of her relationship with Nelly.

Despite not giving Gotti’s wild allegations any attention, Nelly might have sent a message of his own when he and Ashanti appeared on stage together on Aug. 5.

So, what’s the story of Ashanti’s dating life? Let’s take a look.

Is Ashanti Married?

As of 2022, Ashanti is not married.

Who Is Ashanti Currently Dating?

Though Ashanti hasn’t confirmed — or denied — any dating rumors, she was most recently linked to rapper Joyner Lucas. According to Republic World, the rumors about their alleged relationship began circulating after the release of their song “Fall Slowly.”

Who Did She Date In The Past?

Although Ashanti has never been public about her relationships, she has previously been linked to Nelly whom she reportedly dated for nine years.

In a 2015 interview, she spoke about relationships.

“I think sometimes when people have their own insecurities it allows them to act out of character. I’ve been betrayed,” she said. “You just have to grow. You have to grow up and accept responsibilities for the things that you do. I’m not a big fan of people being cowards. I think it’s really important to know yourself and understand what you want and get it. I’m in a different place right now.”

Her Relationship With Irv Gotti

Ashanti has never commented publicly about an alleged relationship with Irv Gotti.

Gotti was her label boss at the height of her career, however. The label, known as Murder Inc. at the time, later changed its name to The Inc. after a 2003 money laundering investigation landed both Gotti and his brother/label co-owner, Christopher, in hot water. In 2013, Murder Inc. was relaunched as an “umbrella” label under Gotti’s Visionary Records, where it remains to this day.
