Barry Jenkins’ production company, Pastel, has inked a two-year production deal with Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures – the first deal for the young production company Pastel headed by Jenkins and his “Moonlight” producer Adele Romanski, as well as Sara Murphy and Mark Ceryak.

“Moonlight” was Pastel’s first feature and this year’s Best Picture Oscar winner.

Under the deal, Jenkins is set to direct a feature film that is currently in development (he’s writing the script), although plot details are being kept under wraps for now.

In addition, the agreement includes future films from Pastel partners Adele Romanski, Sara Murphy, and Mark Ceryak.

Annapurna’s growing library includes critically-acclaimed auteur-driven titles like “The Master,” “Zero Dark Thirty,” “Her,” “American Hustle,” the upcoming “Detroit,” and others. So Jenkins certainly fits right in.

The filmmaker is currently developing an adaption of Colson Whitehead’s “The Underground Railroad,” which is set up as a limited series at Amazon.

“When looking for a place to further the mandate we established with ‘Moonlight,’ Annapurna felt like the perfect home for Pastel,” said the Pastel partners in a joint statement. “As film fans, when we see the Annapurna logo on a film we know we’re in good hands. It’s exciting to know that the work of the filmmakers we support through Pastel will have a home in those same good hands.”

And we’re most certainly looking forward to what Jenkins is working on under this new pact, as well as other projects to come.
