He's got gifted hands, supposedly. Maybe he can use them to sew his mouth shut.

Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson reported work in his new role early Monday morning, but not without raising a few eyebrows. Carson spoke about the country's work ethic, really emphasizing the need to return to the "can do" attitude of America's past. Everything seemed to be going as well as we'd expect a Carson public appearance to go until the former surgeon likened immigrants to slaves.

Yes, you read that right. In Carson's reality, slaves — black slaves, American slaves, his ancestors — were immigrants. Like the Irish, or the Germans, or the Dutch or the any other expatriate who came here of their own free will.

“That’s what America is about. A land of dreams and opportunity," Carson asserted, according to The Huffington Post. "There were other immigrants who came here in the bottom of slave ships, worked even longer, even harder for less. But they too had a dream that one day their sons, daughters, grandsons, granddaughters, great grandsons, great granddaughters might pursue prosperity and happiness in this land.”

To make matters worse, this isn't Carson's first time making unacceptable references to slavery. In 2013, Carson said, "Obamacare is really I think the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery."

Here's a tip for you Ben, from your friends at Blavity: if you're about to use a sentence that contains the words "slave" or "slavery," stop yourself and say something else.

My, my, my … this administration, just under two months old, gets better and better as the days progress.
