Update (August 3, 2021): An Alabama woman whose family reported her missing two years ago, has been found safely in Germany.

In 2018, 23-year-old Nicole Denise Jackson left Birmingham to travel to Munich. She told her family that she was moving to pursue a music career, however, her family later learned she moved to be with a man she met online, as Blavity previously reported.

Shortly after she relocated to Europe, she cut off all forms of communication with her family, leaving them to believe she was in danger.

At the end of 2019 and after several attempts to get in contact with her, Jackson’s relatives began making plans to travel to Munich but their plans were thwarted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In July, Antonio Jackson, Nicole’s father and Ela Vaughn, her older sister, hired a private investigator who found her exact location on Aug. 1, The Independent reported.

During an interview with WBRC 6, the family said “Nicole has been located.”

“She’s safe and in good health. She has been verified by the State Department in person,” they continued.

The private investigator gained access to Nicole’s emails and was able to identify the man she had been living with. The investigator then reached out to the man’s landlord and his place of employment.

Nicole quickly became aware that her family was looking for her and visited a State Department post in Munich and provided proof of her identity.

To date, she has not reached out to her family, but her sister Vaughn is hopeful that she will contact her one day in the future, AL reported.

“I feel a whole lot better. She will eventually reach out. I know she will,” Vaughn said.

Original (July 14, 2021): A woman from Birmingham, Alabama was reported missing after moving to Germany with a man she met online, WBRC reports.

The family of Nicole Denise Jackson is now asking for help with the hopes they can find her alive.

Back in 2018, Jackson traveled from Birmingham to Germany. While she initially kept in contact with her family and friends, no one has heard from her in about two years, AL.com reported.

Jackson, a singer, went to Germany to pursue a career in music. She told her friends that she moved to Germany because school was free for residents and she was looking forward to the upcoming holidays. But since then, no one has heard from her.

Ella Vaughn, Jackson’s older sister, said she last communicated with her via text in 2018.

“Last time I heard her voice was around Christmas of 2018,” Vaughn recalled.

Vaughn said that the family was making plans to search for Jackson in 2019 but because of COVID-19, their travel plans were halted.

“At the end of 2019, we were trying to make decisions on what we were going to do, and then the pandemic happened,’' she said.

Vaughn shared an email WBRC that she received from the U.S. Embassy & Consulates in Germany, advising the family to file a missing person’s report with the police in Germany. Because of the language barrier, filing a report has not been easy, Vaughn said.

After spending the last year working out of state as a traveling nurse, Vaughn began to investigate her sister's disappearance more in-depth.

“I get back and I’m like, ‘Where’s my sister?’ Something’s not right,” she said. “I was able to dig into a lot more once I was back.”

With plans to travel to Germany, Vaughn hopes to track down the man Jackson was involved with, and finding him she believes will lead to answers about her sister’s disappearance.

“Once I get to Germany, I’m going to plaster his face everywhere. That’s where he’s from. Someone is going to recognize him,” she said. “If we can find him, we can find her or figure out what happened.”

A GoFundMe has been established to help the family with the cost of travel.
