As of today, hundreds of DMV kids have witnessed the joy of Cyberninjaz’s enthusiastic approach to STEAM (STEM + Art) education at their summer camp in Potomac, MD. Last seen presenting at the Martin Luther King Jr. Library in D.C., Cyberninjaz is growing to become a local camp favorite of many children in the area. They are currently running tutoring programs in math, coding, digital art, 3D modeling, game design, and 2D animation for children between the ages of 4-17. For the past two years, these young men and women have worked tirelessly to share their knowledge of computer science with the youth and those who keep returning year after year.

They are aiming to start their nonprofit, Cyberninjaz Global, in order to help low-income communities by establishing a safe place to grow and develop STEAM skills. Encouraging more minorities and women to become involved in STEM fields is currently one of the most important topics in our society. Cyberninjaz hopes to contribute to this positive wave of change taking place all throughout America. The Cyberninjaz teams feels like they can connect further with these children because they are from the same places they are.

“We have the ability to connect on a different level with our kids, not only because we look like them, but because we can also inspire them.” says Founder Pianhki Zimmerman,

Founded in September 2014, and based out of Saint Andrew Episcopal School in Potomac, MD, Cyberninjaz has been making great strides to expose the youth to computer programming, math, digital art, and game design.  Cyberninjaz has also attended numerous STEM event this year in order to reach out and connect with more people in the community as they strive to spread a STEAM education and close the digital divide wherever possible.
