With bombastic hits banging in the background and good vibes all around, the Blavity Celebration Lounge, presented by Buick on Saturday, Dec. 16 was truly an event to behold.

HBCU students and alumni from across the country gathered in Atlanta to show their HBCU pride. Scores of the HBCU faithful graced the Suite Lounge with their excitement and their unabashed love for their alma maters. Fans ranged in age and enjoyed brunch at candlelit tables, music, and widescreen TVs livestreaming the big game. Attendees danced, cheered, and celebrated alongside media personality Terrence J and the team from General Motors.

In addition, event-goers were able to participate in the Buick ComeUp Challenge, a trivia game that tested attendees’ wits and knowledge in multiple genres including Tech 101, the Buick Bonus, and WOKE history. Winners took home prizes courtesy of Buick.

Staying true to Buick’s commitment to finely crafted cars and crossovers, the international modern luxury brand offered vehicles with beautifully sculpted designs, luxurious interiors and new innovative technologies that have responsive-yet-efficient performance. Attendees could take a complimentary cruise to the stadium and to other hot spots that are part of the activities associated with the Celebration Bowl.

As part of the experience, Buick gave consumers an opportunity to engage with some its newest products, including the All-New 2018 Enclave Avenir, 2017 Envision and 2017 Buick LaCrosse that are among some of the seven models that make up the freshest lineup in the industry. "We are thrilled to be in Atlanta providing opportunities for consumers to experience some of our newest products, including the All-New 2018 Enclave Avenir, a vehicle that offers the highest expression of Buick luxury,” said Michelle Matthews-Alexander, Buick Diversity Marketing Manager. Among the crowd were faithful fans who expressed their enthusiasm for previous Blavity events.

Attendee Rinsha Prophete recalled that the first time she experienced what Blavity had to offer was in Chicago at the Empowerher Conference this past spring. She was so impressed that she attended Blavity’s Celebration Lounge with the intent of her own ComeUp, networking and advancing her career. Prophete was solely able to do this because the event brought together people she would not meet day-to-day in her retail career.

Local Atlanta entrepreneur and author Arian Simone was in attendance and mentioned that her previous dealings with Blavity CEO Morgan DeBaun impressed and inspired her enough to seek future collaboration. "So when the opportunity came to participate in this event, I thought it was a great collaboration and I was honored to participate," she said.

Ultimately, there was a strong desire from attendees to network with others and advance their careers while enjoying the HBCU weekend festivities. Buick's recent partnership with Blavity to throw Blavity’s Celebration Lounge is just the latest out of the many initiatives coming out of General Motors, designed to continue to connect with the African-American community.

This is just another part of the significant momentum and appeal with new customers Buick is experiencing in the marketplace. "We are excited to partner with Blavity on this event,” said Alexander, “and we are looking forward to hopefully all the positive engagement that will come out of this."
