Have you heard about the new black-owned streaming service that takes fans and newcomer's on a "virtual trip into the way-back machine," of the 70s' hottest blaxploitation films?
Owned by Martin Luther King III and Andrew Young of "Bounce TV," this new service exposes viewers to over 100 movies like Black Caesar, Cleopatra Jones, Foxy Brown, and Shaft for just $3.99 a month, with the first month being free.
Right now "the biggest collection of the baddest movies," is available to watch on your computer, Android, and iOS devices. Soon it will expand to Amazon Fire, Apple TV, and Roku Net TV boxes.
The recognition of this streaming service on major news outlets couldn't be at a perfect time as black actors continue to publicly fight for a more dominant space in Hollywood, and it also affords people of different races, and ages the opportunity to experience the #blackexcellence that was demonstrated in the craftsmanship in each of these films.
Popular 70s actor's Pam Grier and Fred Williamson are brand ambassador's for Brown Sugar, along with rapper and producer, Rick Ross.
" Brown Sugar is just like Netflix, only blacker. These movies are entertaining and fun, but they were also empowering to the black community as they depicted African-Americans as strong leading characters and heroes for the first time." (via Pam Grier, Indiewire)
