Cardi B is making history as the first creative director for Playboy in the history of the magazine's existence. The rapper, who's never shied away from openly showing her sexuality, shared the news herself via Instagram on Thursday.
"Introducing the FIRST EVER Creative Director In Residence at the legendary @playboy, it's ME!!!" the "WAP" rapper wrote. "Joining the @playboy family is a dream and I know yall are going to love what we put together."
"I'm startin this party right as the Founding Creative Director and a founding member of CENTERFOLD the new creator-led platform from Playboy coming soon!!," she said.
According to a press release obtained by People magazine, the Grammy Award-winning musician will "provide artistic direction across co-branded fashion and sexual wellness merchandise collections, digital editorial, experiential activations and more," as part of the partnership.
The release goes on to say that she also serves as a founding member of the magazine's creator-driven platform, CENTERFOLD, which is a social media-focused platform that will give content creators the power and tools to interact with their followers and fans. CENTERFOLD is expected to launch later this month.
"It is a dream come true to officially join the Playboy family. I can't believe this is real." Cardi said in the release. "For as long as I can remember, I've felt connected to Playboy. It's truly the original platform for uncensored creativity and I'm inspired by its incredible legacy of fighting for personal freedoms. I have so many ideas already — I can't wait!"
"I'm also excited to launch our new creator-led platform, CENTERFOLD. Creators today deserve to express themselves freely and unfiltered. They deserve to feel safe in their creativity and sexuality. And they deserve to own their future. This is what CENTERFOLD is all about," continued the rapper. "For all those creators out there doing bold, revolutionary, truly culture-shifting things, come join me."
Aside from her newest venture with Playboy, the rapper has also launched her own line of liquor-infused whipped-cream shots.
"Cardi B is a creative genius and we are absolutely thrilled and honored to bring her immense talent and creative vision to Playboy. Through her unapologetic commitment to free expression, her dedication to lifting up artistic voices and her celebration of sex and body positivity, Cardi is the embodiment of the Playboy brand," said Ben Kohn, chief executive officer of PLBY Group, according to People.
