We’ve been tracking writer and director John Sayles’ new film Go For Sisters because it’s an excellent film that’s definitely worth your time and attention to check out. And it’s currently
making its way across the country in limited engagements.

When was the last time you saw a dramatic film with two black women in the lead roles?

Starring Yolonda
Ross
and LisaGay Hamilton, Jai Tiggett recently summarized the film in her
interview with the two leads (HERE),as being about “two childhood friends, Bernice and
Fontayne, who were once so close they could “go for sisters.” After
losing track of each other for two decades, the women are reunited by chance in
a parole office, with Bernice (Hamilton) now a no-nonsense parole officer and
Fontayne (Ross) an ex-convict trying to clean up her life.
When
Bernice’s son goes missing, she enlists the help of Fontayne and a retired
detective, who’s losing his eyesight (played
by Edward James Olmos) on a journey that takes them across the Mexican border
and into a world of danger.

And beginning next month, starting on Dec 13th, the film will play a week long engagement in Chicago at the Gene Siskel Film Center.
