nullThe sixth edition of the Distribution Support Award has been launched at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Created by Cinema do Brasil in 2009, the Award will be granted to distributors interested in launching one or more Brazilian films in movie theaters around the world.
This year’s edition has two application periods: the first one is this month, February, and the second will take place in July. After all documents are submitted, the awards will be selected according to the candidates’ distribution plan and may reach as high as $25,000 to cover commercialization expenses.
Applications can be submitted through the website: www.cinemadobrasil.org.br.

In addition, Sales Agent Support, an element of the program, which is intended to support the promotion of Brazilian films in international film festivals such as those held in Berlin, Cannes, Locarno, Venice, and San Sebastián, will continue. The program will grant up to $40,000 to cover promotional expenses during these events. Sales agents willing to take part in the initiative must submit their applications within up to one week after the official announcement of the film selected in one of the festivals mentioned above, and submit an investment plan to promote the film.

Since its creation, Cinema do Brasil has participated in the main film festivals and markets around world in order to promote relationship meetings to encourage new businesses, sessions directed to the distribution market, and offer a space for its associates to do business.

The Program also brings important names in the international film industry to get to know Brazilian professionals and their productions, and also develops workshops, lectures, and provides international consultancy to associates.

Cinema do Brasil is a program dedicated to exporting and promoting Brazilian films around the world. A creation of São Paulo’s Audiovisual Industry Guild (SIAESP), the program has established partnerships with Apex-Brasil (the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency), which participates in the operation of strategies and provides financial support to projects. Cinema do Brasil also relies on the institutional support of Ancine (Brazilian National Film Agency).

Cinema do Brasil aims to reinforce and expand the participation of Brazilian audiovisual productions in the international market by providing associate companies with logistic and strategic support, so as to enable these associates to develop co-productions and expand markets for the distribution of their productions and enhance the value of the Brazilian film industry abroad.
