Erivo is quite the talent, already receiving critical acclaim for her role in The Color Purple. Her voice has been renowned as one of the world’s best and she’s garnished attention over her rendition of the song “Still Hurting.” She’s Tony award-winning and Grammy-nominated.
Essentially, #BlackGirlMagic personified.

The choice to cast Erivo in the autobiographical film couldn’t have been more appropriate, seeing as though she’s channeled Tubman’s resilient nature in her previous roles. Tubman was more than just a figure; she was a force, risking her life regularly for the sake of civil rights and the betterment of black people.
The biopic, tentatively called Harriet, will be directed by Seith Mann and written by Gregory Allen Howard.
