Since Pariah burst onto the film scene last year, director Dee Rees' name certainly has been in the news, with a small handful of projects she's attached to in some facet, whether for TV or feature film – the HBO series with Viola Davis, the Southern-set thriller Bolo, and the feature film Large Print, about a recently divorced insurance adjuster.

I've been anxiously waiting to find out which of those projects would be her next effort, and it looks like it just might be this one…

Annouced moments ago, Variety reports that Rees will direct an indie love story titled This Man, This Woman – a project said to have been in development for 17 long years, but not by Rees; by producer Mike Lobell.

The script was penned by Frederic Raphael (who adapted Arthur Schnitzler's haunting novella Traumnovelle – or Dream Story – for the late master Stanley Kubrick, which was released as Eyes Wide Shut).

This Man, This Woman's plot description reads:

… follows a divorced couple struck by tragedy who find themselves seated next to each other on an airplane, where they rekindle their relationship as they reminisce about what went wrong.

The story goes that Lobell really dug the work Rees did on Pariah and approached her to direct the film. After extended talks, Dee obviously agreed.

No financing is in place yet, as the production team plans to first package the film with a cast. No word on what their casting preference for the project is.

Regardles, good to see Dee continue to be in-demand.
