At the 2013 installment of the Festival in April, the Canada-based Hot Docs will host official delegations from Nigeria, South Africa, USA, China, Germany, Japan, the Nordic Region, and Poland.

Taking place on the first Monday of the Festival, International Co-Production Day features networking opportunities and special presentations by Hot Docs’ Official Delegations. The ultimate goal of this day-long gathering of Canadian and international producers is to spark and facilitate new co-production opportunities among attending delegates.

Consisting of established producers and broadcasters, the delegations will be featured at International Co-Production Day, in addition to taking part in professional development sessions, market events and services, and networking opportunities at the Hot Docs Conference and Market.

New this year, Hot Docs introduces International Co-Production Day producer-to-producer meetings allowing delegates to meet one-on-one with potential producing partners from attending international delegations.

It's not such a surprise to see a country like South Africa participating in this kind of international co-production initiative. But seeing that a delegation from Nigeria will also be present is unexpected and wonderful. We'll be watching to see what, if any co-production deals develop from this.
