Courtesy of our friends at Twitch who just broke the story… Denzel Washington has reportedly been offered the lead role in the upcoming Warner Brothers remake of the Oscar-winning Argentine crime thriller The Secret In Their Eyes, which was directed by Juan José Campanella.

The film was based on Eduardo Sacheri’s novel La Pregunta de Sus Ojos (The Question in Their Eyes).

Billy Ray (Breach, Shattered Glass) is said to be attached to direct the remake which centers on “a retired legal counselor [who] writes a novel hoping to find closure for one of his past unresolved homicide cases, and for his unreciprocated love with his superior – both of which still haunt him decades later.“

Obviously Denzel will play the retired legal counselor.

I haven’t seen the Argentinian film, but I will seek it out ASAP, and might also add the book it’s based on to my to-read stack.

Denzel recently wrapped production on Safe House with Ryan Reynolds, and will next shoot Flight with Robert Zemeckis. Assuming he accepts (or has already accepted) the role in The Secret In Their Eyes, it might be his next.
