It is getting harder and harder for the old colonial and imperial powers of Europe to hide from their exploitative shame.

In a bold new children's book entitled, "The ABC of Racist Europe," Spain-based Peruvian author Daniela Ortiz holds no punches exposing the sinister history of Europe's overseas empires and torture of people of color. The book opens with a sly and veiled jab to President Donald Trump's travel ban and the west's love for harsh deportation.

“The same AIRPLANES that white Europeans tourists take on their vacation are used for the deportation of racialized migrants and ASYLUM seekers. During the expulsions, the AUTHORITIES use a lot of violence. It’s like an APARTHEID regime in the AIRPORTS,” the entry for the letter "A" states.

Ortiz's book started off at The Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art in Middlesbrough, England as part of an exhibit on Europe before becoming free online. While the illustrated work attacks the xenophobia and racism of the west, it also educates kids about Europe overseas empires in Africa, South and North America and Asia.

The book also serves as a handy guide for the budding revolutionary by pointing out how oppressive systems work to keep people in check.

"Each letter has an imperialist message, for example, the letter K was for King … where the image shows a king imprisoning Africans, an image that today would be unacceptable,” explained Miguel Amado, curator of the museum.

This cool and very relevant book is available online for free.
