Don Lemon is mourning the death of his older sister who died in an accidental drowning on Thursday. L’Tanya “Leisa” Lemon Grimes was 58 years old.
“The Lemon/Grimes family would like to thank everyone for their condolences and prayers at this time. Our family has suffered the tragic loss of L’Tanya ‘Leisa’ Lemon Grimes,” the family said in a statement to People. “We are leaning on each other for strength at this time. We appreciate privacy as we grieve the loss of our loved one.”
According to The Times-Picayune, Lemon Grimes died after she fell into a neighborhood pond. She had reportedly been fishing in the pond when she appeared to have tripped and fallen into the water.
Lemon paid tribute to his sister in a post on Twitter Thursday:

He later also shared a separate tweet showing an adorable video from Because Of Them We Can showing black kids who created a CNN parody for the kickoff to Black History Month.
