Dwyane Wade wrote an incredibly touching tribute to his daughter Zaya.

The former NBA star shared two photos and penned a from-the-heart declaration of love and support for 13-year-old Zaya on Instagram.

“Unconditional love, simply put, is love without strings attached. It’s love you offer freely. You don’t base it on what someone does for you in return,” Wade wrote in the caption of the post. “You simply love them and want nothing more than their happiness. This type of love sometimes called compassionate or agape love.”

Wade and his wife, Gabrielle Union, have been staunch supporters of Zaya since she came out as transgender in December 2019, as Blavity previously reported.

Union found it odd that so many people praised her and her husband for being good parents during her appearance on Ellen, as Blavity previously reported. She also admitted that she was aware of parents who didn’t support their children.

“To us, it’s a little odd to get any kind of recognition for doing what you’re supposed to do, which is love and accept and embrace your kids,” Union said. “But unfortunately, there are so many people who just don’t. They just don’t. So many people truly feel like their kids are disposable.”

Wade made an appearance on the popular daytime talk show, too, and he provided insight on Zaya’s bravery and his love for her, as Blavity previously reported

“I looked at her and said ‘You are a leader,’” Wade said, referencing his daughter’s decision to live her truth.

Although the Wade family and many celebrities and fans have shown unwavering support for Zaya, there have been instances of stars who spoke against the teen and her family’s advocacy.

After Zaya came out, rapper Boosie Badazz inserted his unsolicited two cents on the topic, as Blavity previously reported.

“That is a male — a 12-year-old. At 12, they don’t even know what they next meal gon’ be. They don’t have s**t figured out yet,” Boosie said of Zaya.

Despite the haters, Zaya seems to be thriving, and it’s safe to assume that her family’s unconditional love and support are at the core of her happiness.
