Real-life events can be the best goldmine for storytellers. In November 2020, TV One debuted the original film Blood On Her Badge.
Based on a true story, Blood On Her Badge chronicles the life of Dee Johnson, a young cop whose life takes a turn for the worse when she falls in love with an enigmatic young man whose presence holds detriment to both her personal and professional life.
The official description: “Blood on Her Badge tells a true-crime tale of Dee Johnson, a charming and eager young cop. As Dee settles into her new career, she falls for a captivating younger man. As life begins to fall into place, Dee begins to make risky decisions that ultimately alter her objectivity. With no real moral grounding, Dee allows herself to be manipulated by her lover, resulting in tragic repercussions.
Directed by Kenn Michael and written by Scott Mullen, Blood On Her Badge stars a collection of young actors and actresses bound to take over film and television in the next few years or so. The lead role of Dee Johnson in Blood On Her Badge is anchored by Rayven Symone Ferrell, who appeared in films and shows such as The Hate U Give, Chicago P.D., Stolen by My Mother: The Kamiyah Mobley Story.
The role of Dee’s love interest Trey is portrayed by Tequan Richmond, who is known for his roles on shows like Everybody Hates Chris and Boomerang. Richmond also portrayed Lee Boyd Malvo, one of the two perpetrators in the infamous 2002 Beltway sniper murders, in the independent film drama Blue Caprice. Richmond also earned three consecutive Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series for his role of T.J. Ashford on General Hospital.
Aside from Ferrell and Richmond, Blood On Her Badge also stars Richard Brooks, Johnell Young and Tetona Jackson. The latter also starred with Richmond in BET’s Boomerang series.
