Fox Searchlight wants to stay in the David E. Talbert business, signing up the author and filmmaker again, this time to adapt fellow author Cheryl Jarvis’ 2008 novel, The Necklace, which tells the true story of 13 women who took a risk, collectively buying an expensive diamond necklace with the intent being to share it, and, in the process, changed not only themselves but their community.
Talbert is on-board to adapt the novel to screenplay, but not to direct, although I won’t be surprised if he is eventually pegged to helm the project as well.
Talbert’s rom-com Baggage Claim, which stars Paula Patton, and which was released by Fox Searchlight, is currently in theaters, doing moderately well (relative to its budget).
Has anyone read The Necklace? If so, your thoughts?
