Deyjah Harris, the daughter of rapper T.I., revealed that her reason for self-harming is to release anger.

Harris has spoken about her history of self-harm, revealing that she has received help for it, thanks to her father, rapper T.I., her mother Niko, and stepmother Tameka “Tiny.” Now the 21-year-old is sharing with her followers why self-harm has helped her release anger.

As Harris answered questions on Instagram, a person asked her reasoning for self-harm.

“What was the purpose in making those cuts on ur arms? (not trying to be rude).”

Harris explained that it started when she was 11 and worsened after her aunt, Precious, passed away.

“So around 11-15, I think that back then I was doing it because I was sad and numb in a way,” Harris wrote. “however, around 17, (so after auntie precious passed) that’s when it kinda changed…it got worse.”

Harris said that she did it because she suffered from a lot of anger, and it was a way for her to release it.

“I do it because I have a lot of anger to release, basically,” she said. “The short answer will be because it’s a way for me to release anger, or sometimes I’m numb, so I do it just to feel SOMETHING.”

In March, Harris shared encouraging words with her followers who struggle with self-harm in honor of Self Injury Awareness Day on her Instagram account.

According to her now-deleted post, she would listen to her followers without judgment.

“Perhaps I had to experience this in order to be able to help someone else that is or will deal with this…I mean, we hurt so that we can help others heal from that same pain, right?” Harris said. “I don’t need any sympathy; I don’t need any of you to try and guess why I did this to myself; I don’t need you to tell me things like “oh, you shouldn’t do that to yourself, you’re too pretty for that” etc. because that will change nothing.”

In the past, the 21-year-old has talked about her mental health on Instagram and checked in with her followers.
