Warner Bros. has dropped the first trailer for Doctor Sleep, the sequel to the classic 1980 horror film, The Shining. It is based on the 2013 Stephen King book of the same name, which is also a sequel to 1977’s The Shining.

For those unfamiliar, Doctor Sleep will be based on the book of the same name by Stephen King, which follows Danny Torrance (Ewan McGregor), now a hospice nurse, as he copes with the same mental issues and bouts of alcoholism that plagued his father, Jack Torrance. Young newcomer Kyliegh Curran, who has portrayed Young Nala on Broadway, will star as Abra Stone, a girl who has the gift of “The Shining,” the same kind of psychic abilities Danny exhibited in the first film.

Rebecca Ferguson, Zackary Momoh, Carl Lumbly, Emily Alyn Lind and more also star.

The film, written and directed by Mike Flanagan, comes courtesy of Warner Bros. and is scheduled to be released in theaters on January 24, 2020, nearly four decades after the release of The Shining.
