The pop culture world is still reeling from the unexpected death of Kim Porter, model, actress and mother to Sean “Diddy” Combs’ children. Music producer Dallas Austin revealed that the 2002 film Drumline was partially inspired by his memories of Porter. Austin was a producer on the film.
On Instagram, he posted a prom picture of him and Porter, writing in the caption that he knew Porter ever since they were both children. It was their relationship that inspired the relationship between Nick Cannon’s character, Devon and Zoe Saldana’s character, Laila.
Porter was reportedly battling pneumonia and had flu-like symptoms before her death. On Sunday, Combs posted a video of him and Porter on Twitter with the statement, “For the last three days I’ve been trying to wake up out of this nightmare. But I haven’t. I don’t know what I’m going to do without you baby. I miss you so much. Today I’m going to pay tribute to you, I’m going to try and find the words to explain our unexplainable relationship.”
