Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has officially bid farewell to The Fast and The Furious franchise.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Johnson revealed that he won’t be reprising his role as Hobbs in any future Fast and Furious movies after fans noticed his absence in F9: The Fast Saga.
“I’ve wished them well,” Johnson said. “I wish them well on Fast 9. And I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10 and Fast 11 and the rest of the Fast & Furious movies they do that will be without me.”
Johnson first appeared as Lucas “Luke” Hobbs in Fast Five. The character of Hobbs was depicted as a DEA agent hunting down Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), but later works with him in future movies.
Johnson’s departure from the famed franchise comes in the wake of reports detailing the wrestler turned actor’s feud with fellow actor Vin Diesel, which reportedly dates back to 2016.
Last month, Diesel, also a producer on The Fast and The Furious movies, sat down for an interview with Men’s Health, in which he stated it took “tough love” to get his desired performance out of The Rock.
“I laughed and laughed hard”, Johnson said in regards to Diesel’s comments. “I think everyone had a laugh at that. And I’ll leave it at that. And that I’ve wished them well. I wish them well on Fast 9. And I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10 and Fast 11 and the rest of the Fast & Furious movies they do that will be without me.”
F9 is in theaters now.
