Scott Cooper will direct.

The film, said to be set against a backdrop of the Civil Rights Movement, will chronicle the intersection of MLK and his killer, James Earl Ray, which resulted in the largest manhunt in FBI history — by the same exact government agency what wiretapped him.

Production is anticipated to begin this Spring.

Black Label Media, which was formed by Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill and Thad Luckinbill, have movies coming out like the Chris Hemsworth-starring Horse Soldiers and Kevin Spacey in Rebel in the Rye.

Deadline first reported the news.
