It’s about time!
With her long storied career in Hollywood, including Emmy-nominated roles in Sweet Justice and How To Get Away With Murder, it’s hard to imagine that the G.O.A.T Cicely Tyson has never won an Academy Award.
For those unfamiliar, the 93-year-old actress was previously nominated in 1973 for her performance alongside Paul Winfield in Sounder.
The actress has also given memorable performances in Roots, The Autobiography Of Miss Jane Pittman, Hoodlum and many more.
However, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is set to give Tyson her just due, as the actress is set to receive an Honorary Academy Award at the Governors Award on November 18. Other honorees will include Marvin Levy, Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall.
With Tyson set to be honored, now will be a good time for the Academy to run Angela Bassett her long overdue Oscar for her performances in What’s Love Got To Do With It and Malcolm X.
