Blackstar Warrior, an original new short film described as a “new blaxploitation-meets-Star Wars mashup” starring Leonard Roberts (Drumline, Love Jones), will debut on Brown Sugar on June 24.

Directed by Matt Haley and co-written by Simon Oré, the tongue-in-cheek film, set in a 1970s version of the future, follows space detective Tyson Roderick (Roberts) who, in his quest to discover the truth behind his origins, stumbles into — and must defeat — a cult hellbent on taking over the galaxy.

Also, the blaxploitation classics including Shaft, Super Fly, Cleopatra Jones, The Mack, Black Belt Jones, Three The Hard Way, and In the Heat of the Night are available on Brown Sugar. Pam Grier is hosting a “Brown Sugar Week on Bounce” on Bounce TV this week, as well. Learn more at BounceTV.com.
