Lupita Nyong’o has been attached to topline a remake of the 1989 classic action film, The Killer, at Universal.
John Woo, who directed the first film, will return to direct Nyong’o.
According to Deadline, who first broke the news, it is intended as a star vehicle for the Oscar-winning actress and will be fast-tracked at the studio.
Nyong’o will play the assassin originally portrayed by Chow Yun-fat.
The studio says the film will be a “blistering thriller that blends espionage with extraordinary stunts,” the remake centers on an assassin who is sworn to protect a young woman she accidentally blinded during a mob hit years prior.:
Production is slated to begin later this year in France and Germany.
