Sunday night, HBO unveiled the teaser trailer for the long-awaited season 3 of True Detective, which stars Mahershala Ali.

The third season of the show tells the story of a horrible crime in the heart of the Ozarks and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods.

Ali stars as Wayne Hayes, a state police detective from northwest Arkansas.

Carmen Ejogo and Stephen Dorff also star.

The new season will premiere in 2019.
