After wrapping up production on the upcoming Lifetime movie, "Un-Break My Heart" (the Toni Braxton biopic), multi-hyphenate Vondie Curtis-Hall has signed on to write and direct an adaptation of Warren Adler’s 2010 dramatic thriller “Residue."

Adler is likely best known for "The War of the Roses," which was also adapted into a 1989 award-winning film starring Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner, and Danny DeVito.

"Residue," published in 2010, tells the story of a firebombing of a black church in Brooklyn that was once a synagogue which sets off a chain reaction of international intrigue and violence.

Sounds quite intricate.

Jeffrey D. Erb of Framelight Productions will produce the film with Grey Eagle Films.

Production is still in early stages, so no casting attachments yet.

“I’m very excited to be working on such a compelling, timely piece, where nothing is as it seems as the residue of the past layers the present,” Curtis-Hall said.

Curtis-Hall’s name isn’t discussed much it seems, but the man works, both in front of and behind the camera. In terms of acting, we just saw him in the Marvel’s Netflix series “Daredevil,” playing a pivotal role, and not just relegated to the periphery.
