The highly anticipated Fast & Furious spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw, starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason Statham along with newly betrothed and People’s 2018 “Sexiest Man Alive” Idris Elba, has been kicking up quite the smoke…especially on the race track.
Shadow And Act was asked to participate in the Fast & Furious Supercar Challenge where we would get an exclusive look at the new trailer for Hobbs & Shaw while riding shotgun in a Dodge Hellcat and a McLaren going over 120 mph on the race track. As I arrived at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA, the selection of supercars beamed in the admiration of all guests. A safety training course took place before everyone took the cars out on the track for a spin. This was happening. This was not a drill. I repeat, not a drill.
As I stood admiring the cars and looking at the larger than life poster of The Rock and Jason Statham, I heard my name being called. My heart started racing as the helmet went on, and I got inside the car. I quickly became acquainted with the driver to ensure he knew my life was very precious to me.
After fist bumping, I strapped in and was surprised to have a personal message from The Rock on the iPad in the car. When he finished the last word in his greeting, the car immediately sped off hitting speeds I had never experienced in my life. The new trailer started, and although I was now in a car going over 100 mph, I could not take my eyes off the trailer being played. As death-defying stunts were happening, I was captivated by The Rock’s no nonsense Hawaiian mother, played by Lori Pelenise Tuisano, stealing the scene and of course, the badass supervillain played by Idris Elba snatched my attention and refused to give it back.
While swaying from side-to-side in the speeding car, at moments holding my breath, I felt as though I was in the movie itself. The wind rushed across my face, and I do believe even tears fell. Real men cry, too. This movie has action, drama, comedy, action, and oh yeah…more action. The video of me in the car may showcase a few high pitch screams, but please count them as excitement and not fear.
As I exited the McLaren, I felt as though I was on another planet. It was smooth, fast, sexy, and sleek. I had gone where no man had gone before…well, other men had, but this is my version of the story. Take a spin a Dodge Hellcat and McLaren. See this movie!
Hobbs & Shaw opens on August 2, 2019.
